In a bid to share and let customers in on how their food is prepared and the standards adhered to ensure safe meals, KFC will effective today, for the next 8 weeks, give its customers a chance to tour the back of the kitchen at its branches in Uganda.
Dubbed “Great Taste Tours”, the campaign which is carried from other branches around the world where customers are engaged in store and online, are given a chance to see the action behind the scenes in the kitchens and to witness the amount of work and precaution taken by the food chain stores to ensure that, their customers eat the best and safest possible meals.
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony of this campaign earlier today at Kira branch, Martin Mundua, KFC’s Brand Manager pointed out that their standards around the world are some of the highest overall and that no compromise is made to ensure that their customers are given the very best quality of food.
“On the way in, we ensure that everyone is wearing a hair cap and they have no jewelry, we separate our frozen materials that contain blood and those that do not to ensure that at no point do they cross over. Every 30 minutes, we clean up and also have bacterial disinfectants and chlorine strips to ensure that we check for a certain approved level of sterilizer in our cleaning water,” said Mr Ziad Ansari the Bukoto Store Manager who also added that these are only some of the measures taken by the food store.
To witness the full experience firsthand, customers need to sign up in store and they will receive an invitation to go into the back of the stores starting at the end of June and into August. Alternatively, customers can also sign up to take part online through their social media platforms. The food chain which was first launched in Uganda in December 2013 at Village Mall Bugolobi, has since expanded to 6 locations including Acacia Mall, Shell Kira, Oasis Mall, Shell Kabalagala and Victoria Mall Entebbe. By the end of 2016, there will be another 2 locations at Forest Mall and Shell Banda, which will be another drive-through.
