We all remember when Leah Kalanguka was crowned Miss Uganda. Social media was awash with criticism, with many saying she was not good enough. Well, she has since moved on, and news reaching us is that she is on the verge of being on top of the world. She is in top spot to win the ‘Miss World Next Top Model’ competition.
The event is a modelling competition between 44 beauty queens from all parts of the world.
The former Miss Uganda, who reigned in 2014 is, according to what we are receiving, topping 43 other contestants from around the globe to become the next top model 2016. If she emerges victorious, she will have set a record as the first Ugandan to ever do so.
Kalanguka has 2061 votes, miles ahead of Brazil’s representative who is second place with 1632. Greece is in third with 780 votes, followed by Philippines with 712. Cyprus stands in fifth with 548 while Cameroon, the only other African country in the top six, has 448.
Uganda has Aamito Lagum, who won Africa’s next top model a few years back to put the modeling industry on top. If Kalanguka, Miss Uganda 2014 happens to win this one, she too will go down in history books.
The crowning of the winner will be on Tuesday 31st May 2016 at the Grand Hills Hotel in Broumana, Lebanon.
