The celebrity football match dubbed a celebrity for charity football match took place last Sunday and was well attended. The event was organized by Dorah Mwima Foundation with an aim of raising funds to improve child sanitation at Bambino foundation and other children homes in Uganda.
There were 2 teams; Team Salvado and Team Navio who were the captains of their respective teams. Team Salvado comprised of DJ Aluda, Ali Alybhai of Talent Africa who was the goal keeper, Afande Kele Kele, Rapper Keko, commedian McVex, Morris Hasa, Producer Bushington, Honarable MP Nsereko, Chano8’s Tonny Mutengu, Miss Uganda 2013 Ella, Nicta Bachu, among others.
Team Navio had A Pass, DJ Chrisio, MC Esco, Gareth Onyango, commedians Alex Muhangi and Bright Onak, Drake, Vince Musisi, Guitar Maestro Myko Ouma, Miss Uganda 2011 Phiona Bizzu, Jaylor Birungi among others.
The match ended with a score of 6-3 in favour of Navio’s team . A Pass scored 3 goals for the winning team with 1 being a hat-trick. The singer showed off his soccer skills and later posted on his Facebook page saying “It felt nice to get back to my soccer roots. #HatTrickHero.”
Some of the best players were MC Esco, MP Nsereko, Mutengu Tonny of Chano8, Producer Bushingtone, Dj Crisio, A Pass, Ali Alibhai and Alex Muhangi. A fundraising was held after the match where Barbara Namata walked away with the autographed jersey at a price of 4.5 million shillings.
