As Eddy Kenzo was busy performing at his Mbilo Mbilo concert at Hotel Africana last Friday evening, comedian Afande Kerekere was also busy cracking ribs at his first ever one man show at La’bonita.
Regarded as a complete celebrity in every sense, Kerekere real names George Mulindwa got a huge crowd at La’Bonita. In fact, his concert dubbed ‘One Afande, One mission’ sold out both in the ordinary and VIP sections thanks to Mirinda who sponsored the event.
This proved that the comedy industry has been well embraced by Ugandans just like the music industry as many comedians have changed strategy of holding one man shows. Salvado was the first, followed by Kerekere and soon Dolibondo will also have his at Botanical gardens on the 29th of August.
Kerekere sent the crowd into laughter for three hours with mostly a compilation of his best old jokes that mainly revolved around tribalism, society and making fun about other comedians.
The joke that climaxed all of them was about a musoga man who killed himself so as not to miss out on a heated up confrontation between a man who killed another and then committed suicide because of 20k.
Carrying himself around as a policeman, Kerekere as expected appeared on stage in a fully white traffic police uniform before he returned for the second and final session dressed in a grey ordinary police uniform.
Khalifa Aganaga was the only artiste who performed at the event which started at 8pm and ended at a few minutes past 11pm.
