Just when we thought the yet to be passed laws are some of the biggest hurdles that might make life hard for local artistes, another sector has come out and promised to make life even harder for them.
According to information that we received, a good number of deejays and music producers met at Calender Pub located in Makindye and discussed how to handle the mistreatment they are going through all courtesy of local artistes.
They claim that they contribute so much to the artistes yet benefit so little from them.
“An artiste can rely on a single hit for the rest of his life yet a producer only benefits from the fee that he charges in studio. We have seen many musicians rip off from a song yet the producer of that song is left grassing,” said a producer who asked to be anonymous.
He added that the main reason why they have come together is to see that every party benefits.
“We will either do contracts with the artistes so that every time he performs or paid for a song, the producer also benefits.”
