Bebe Cool today announced that he will extend his support for children with heart problems by sponsoring six more children with air tickets and upkeep abroad. He made the announcement this morning at a press briefing ahead of his Golden Heart Concert slated for 3rd August at the Dome in Kololo Airstrip.
This follows the successful operation of a child identified only as Sheila who the artiste earlier sponsored for a complicated heart operation in India who returned to the country two weeks back. The second phase of the operation will be done in a year’s time.
Sheila’s story as narrated by the artiste himself starts when one early morning Bebe Cool’s wife Zuena Kirema who was taking the children to school found a woman at the gate who blocked her way when she knelt on the roadto asked to see Bebe Cool before she could let Zuena pass.
An angry Bebe Cool when told the ordeal then rushed to the scene only to find a woman with a sick child. Al she asked was an air ticket to take the child abroad. On seeing her situation and overcome by compassion Bebe asked if she had the Hospital bill covered, for which responded in the affirmative. Like they always say, the rest is history.
It is therefore from this background that the ‘Mbozi Za Malwa’ singer then decided to name his concert the ‘Golden Heart’ in which he intends to sponsor five more children with completed heart problems from the proceeds of the concert. The children will be identified and screened by another good Samaritan who runs an NGO that connects the patients to Hospitals abroad, especially in India.
CONCERT VENUE CHANGES
Bebe Cool also said due to public demand, there will be change of venue from Kampala Serena Hotel to the Dome in Kampala. The organizers had already started advertising onsocial media platforms with Serena as the venue but because of the overwhelming feedback where fans demanded a bigger space, they were forced to shift to Kololo.
Bebe Cool also said he had already sold 40 VVIP tables and that would limit him at Serena which takes about 50 tables only. With sponsors and partners showing more interest, the demand for tables also keeps increasing as the D-day gets closer.
Silk Events and Talent Africa are also bringing in new equipment for the production and stage which they think will be great for the outdoor setting at Kololo Airstrip.
TICKET PRICES NOT CHANGED.
Another important point the Gagamel boss clarified was the issue of ticket prices which remain unchanged at 100,000/- for VIP while VVIP tables that seat 10 people go for 5 Million. The tickets will also still be sold at Kampala Serena Hotel and managed by SMS ONE (U) Ltd. who are part of the sponsors. Tickets can also be delivered to fans in their places of work or even home If they call Kleberson on 0776 983 199 or 0752 983 199
“It is costly to organise concerts every other year that’s why we decided to hold our concerts after every two years to give us time to prepare properly interns of expenses and also content and material to present to the fans. It is unfair to present half-baked music to the fans”. Bebe expalined when asked why he skipped last year.
Representatives from sponsors like Bell lager, Capital FM, Silk Events, SMS ONE, Pepsi, and Betway spoke of their commitment to supporting Bebe Cool –something they have done over the years and are willing to continue doing.
