It’s not common to hold a concert on week day like a Wednesday but yesterday the 4th of October saw the Goethe-Zentrum Kampala organised ‘Your Music Your Voice’ concert take place at the Kampala Industrial Area based Design Hub.
Apart from just being a concert that had artistes performing, #YourMusicYourVoice is a project whose aim is bring together Ugandan, African and Diaspora artistes whose music is all about social justice. All roads led to Design Hub where artistes from Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Germany, Senegal, Zimbabwe and Mauritania put up mid blowing performances for the revellers who represented.
Among the headlining artistes was Bobi Wine, Nubian Li, St. Nelly Sade (Uganda), Megaloh (Germany), Juma (Kenya), Nash MC (Tanzania), Yallah MC (Uganda), Outspoken (Zimbabwe), Monza (Mauritania), Sylvester and Abramz (Uganda), Lady Slyke (Uganda), Xuman (Senegal) and Ghanaian Stallion (Germany)
The crowd’s reception to the other artistes was good and encouraging before Bobi Wine took to the stage and got the crowd wild. Bobi who was accompanied by his right -hand man Nubian Li stepped on stage minutes after midnight amid ululations from the fired up crowd.
He Kicked off his half an hour’s showcase singing songs like ‘Badman from Kamwokya’, before later shifting gears to his more politically influenced songs like ‘Situka’, ‘Time Bomb’, ‘Bikwase Kyagulanyi’ among others.
