Dancehall artiste Bobi Wine has made 34 years today as reflected on his personal profile which shows that he was born on 12th, February, 1982. The Fire base President started his music career in early 2000’s when he was still a high school student at Kitante Hill School, in Kampala.
According to his music profile posted on music Uganda.com, Bobi said that he began composing songs in O level.
“By the end of my ‘O’ level, I had composed many songs but had no money to record any. It was one of the most disheartening things in my pursuit of his musical dream,” he said.
His recording problems were sorted out by his elder brother Eddy Yawe, who went to Sweden and came back with audio and video recording equipment and formed Dream Records. He started the group Fire base in 2003 with Bebe Cool, Tool Man, Black boy and other upcoming Ragga/reggae musicians at the time, but later split and decided to pursue solo carriers.
In 2006, he was named artiste of the year by the pearl of Africa Music awards (PAM) after beating his rivals Jose Chameleone and Bebe Cool and today, he is one of Uganda’s top male musicians and his contribution to the local music industry cannot be under-estimated.
