Photos by Habre Muriisa

Break dance is one of the most jaw-dropping dance styles whose origin is acclaimed among African-American  as well as Latin-American youths in the South Bronx of New York City during the early 1970s.Here in Uganda, it’s a common thing too with Fresh Lane, an initiative working to empower youth socially and economically through cultivating and elevating art, culture, education and facilitating creative development while spearheading this culture.

Through the years, Break Fast Jam has been organising dancing competions and their 6th edition is coming our way on Saturday the 19th and Sunday the 20th of November at the Wandegeya-based YMCA. Lovers of dance and music are surely set to enjoy this particular edition with a variety on offer.

Last year at the 5th edition, the event was graced by some of the world’s most celebrated break dancers and pioneer of B-Boying Crazy Legs which successfully went down with a big crowd of revellers turning up. They were entertained by the performing arts and the dance competitors themselves.
