Chano8’s Geofrey Mutabazi is the front runner and favourite at the highly contested International Science, Business and Technology (ISBAT) University guild presidential race. The third year Business Administration Undergraduate student works with Chano8 as a Marketing executive and is confident he will emerge victorious.
Mutabazi who believes he has the best interests of the students is riding on his experience gained as a student leader in various capacities right from MUBs where he studied for 3 semesters before moving to ISBAT.
“For the 2 years I have been at this university, I have got employment at SmsOne – a leading ICT solutions and digital content provider in East Africa, participated in competitions like the public speaking competition from which I emerged winner. Further involvement includes moderating the panel discussion on time management held last week during the orientation week, bringing the Hult Prize Social Entrepreneurship Competition to ISBAT University and many more opportunities in plan”. Mutabazi wrote in his manifesto a copy of which was aviled to Chano8.
Mutabazi who already sees himself as president in waiting also promises to create a strong bond between the students’ leadership and university administration. He aims at creating a strong sense of togetherness in the student community through improving services in the university such as; improved social events like Gaming Day, Movie Screenings, Artiste performances and meals more affordable meals at the cafeteria, attending to challenges of all students in the university administration and guild council among others.
“As guild president, I will bring leadership, commitment and creativity to the role along with a strong work ethic and a positive mental attitude”. He adds
He is also looking at giving power in the hands of students as he contines to consolidate some of his achievents which include securing more than 3 early stage partnership negotiations with;
- Stanbic Bank Uganda to provide affordable student-friendly accounts and conduct financial management and early stage investment master classes for ISBAT University students.
- RwandAir to give affordable flights to students and university staff to several destinations like Rwanda, India, Kenya, South Africa, Belgium, United Kingdom, Dubai and many more.
- Chano8 Conekt to create university chapters geared towards providing opportunities.
- Fuzu East Africa, a job placement platform operating allover East Africa to provide part-time student employment.
He is vying for the post alongside Atria Kenneth, Brenda Tuhairwe and Ndikuno Ituio Arthur. Voting takes place tomorrow September 12th at the university campus between midday and 1pm. May the best candidate win.
