The Club Mega Fest, which was dubbed the biggest show of the year had many fans turn up for what was meant to be history in the making.
The show, which was supposed to be highlighted by performances from Makifizolo, Burna Boy, Shaggy, Patra, Bebe Cool and Jose Chameleone, failed to live up to the hype as many Jose Chameleone and Mafikizolo fans were left disappointed.
Club released a statement yesterday, where they said, Club always promises to deliver on what it promises to consumers and did everything to ensure a smooth and successful event. Unfortunately, not everything went a according to the script.
‘Club Music would like to thank all its production partners, the police, the artistes and especially the revelers that graced the first ever Club Mega Fest yesterday. Club always promises to deliver on what it promises to consumers and did everything to ensure a smooth and successful event. Unfortunately, not everything went a according to the script.’
‘We apologise that one of the international acts, Mafikizolo, was unable to perform due to the following reasons.’
‘The show was meant to kick off at midday but due to the heightened terror alerts, the security sweep of the entire venue took longer than anticipated. This pushed the show-time program by over three hours.’
‘Round about 2am we were informed about some security concerns and advised to wrap up the show within the hour. Therefore Mafikizolo were unable to perform because their set was in the excess of an hour.’
‘We apologise to all that missed to watch Mafikizolo yesterday and we would like to clarify that they were ready and available to perform. Thankfully, there’s a second chance to watch them live on stage today at Serena at show co-sponsored by Club.’
‘We would also like to clarify that we had got clearance from authorities for the Mega Fest to go on up to 6am.’
‘It was also unfortunate that our own Chameleon was unable to perform. He was unable to secure return transportation from a gig in South Sudan.’
‘As Club Music we thank you all that made the show and hope you enjoyed all the other acts that performed.’
‘Our pledge is to always continue supporting the industry by looking for various platforms that pit our artistes against the international musicians with the hope that they will be lessons learned and networks built and also give memorable experiences to our consumers.’
