Comedy in Uganda has been growing steadily over the years and some of the key players and pioneers are starting to enjoy the fruits inform of sold out shows and awards. One of those stars Kenneth Kimuli commonly known as Pablo who is one of East Africa’s funniest men when it comes to cracking jokes has travelled to places in and around E. Africa and the rest of the continent because of his antics.
He has his own live show dubbed ‘Pablo Live’ a show that is attended by many fans because they can’t afford to miss out on his funny presentations. Pablo has now been nominated in the category of ‘Star prominent Comedian of the Year’ in the Rising Star Awards that will be held at Sheraton Hotel Kampala on Saturday the 24th of October.
In the category, he will be tussling it out with the Man from Omgbokolo aka Patrick ‘Salvador’ Idringi who won the Best comedian award in the just concluded Uganda Entertainment Awards.Other stars in the mix include super ninja Anne Kansiime, Afande kele kele veterans Zizinga and Amooti Mbalanguzi.

Pablo, who was recently shut down and cracked ribs in Toronto Canada with fellow comedian Anne Kansime with whom they are in the same category, has been actively in stand-up comedy for more than a decade now. He has won several awards and his career is positively blossoming. He is however facing stiff competition from comedians like Salvador who recently was in Mauritius and Nigeria where he received lots of cheering and love and the other fast rising stars.
The Organizers have also set up a second category ‘The Star Comedian of the year’ for the most active comedian of the year which pits Abby Mukiibi, Patriko Mujuuka, Alex Muhangi, Senga Nantume, Salvador, Anne Kansiime and Amooti again.
