The comedy night at National Theatre every Thursday has grown in leaps and bounds in the last few years with comedy itself(especially stand-up) becoming one of the most sort after forms of entertainment in Uganda today.
With the likes of Anne Kansiime, Dickson Zizinga, Richard Tuwangye, Mendo aka Museveni and Hannington Bugingo, Fun Factory has now developed into a top sketch comedy group in Uganda, made up of about 14 young and brilliant professional men and women. The company blends most of the hottest and funniest comedy skits that capture the current trends in society.
In almost a decade the group has highlighted some of Uganda’s top modern day era society challenges like corruption, social injustices, moral decay and poverty in their plays and skits all packaged in a hilarious stress relieving manner.
The group was formed after a misunderstanding that developed from the parent club after nine members broke away from Theatre Factory to form Fun Factory. Only Philip Luswata and Julius Lugaya were left in the original group which later went into oblivion.
Although some of the top members of the group also broke off to form rival groups like Slavdor and Prince Emma, the core of the members stayed and re now entertaining fans on a regular basis in various venues and on Television.
One of the top comedians and longest serving members Dickson Zizinga has taken his trade to another level where his acting has been widely appreciated by fans. He has now introduced the silent comedy running on NTV called Zizou which has also received positive reviews and feedback.
Today, he group will have a special show on his honour termed ‘The Best of Zizinga”. Last night they warmed up with some hilarious skits in preparation for this weekend’s shows at National Theatre where entry is set at 50,000/= for singles and 80,000/= for couples. More shows will take place tomorrow 31st January and 1st February 2015 all starting at 8PM.
Patrick Salvador Idringi, Pablo, Mukalazi and the Musicians will join the Fun factory group in cracking ribs and entertaining the guests.
