Organisers are already running adverts in local media advertising the show in which Koffi Olomidde himself has confirmed he is coming. The soukous master speaking in broken Luganda and heavy Congolese accent English has promised to deliver the best entertainment for Ugandans who have missed Lingala for a very long time.
Music from other countries like Nigeria and our own local music have now overtaken Congolese music which dominated the entertainment scene for a long time in Uganda till late 90’s.However there is still a big fan base for Lingala and old school music. With Band music now growing at a very first rate, Lingala and Congolese music is slowly crawling back into the night clubs, Bars and entertainment venues. Once again some Radio stations and TV programs have programs dedicated for Congolese music.
The Award winning Koffi Olomidde was born on a Friday 13th of august 1956, in the northeast of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. He was nicknamed ‘Antoine Makila Mabe’ meaning, ‘Bad blooded Antony’. He has a degree in Business Economics and holds a Masters Degree in Mathematics. However, his love and passion for arts and music has seen him grow into one of the greatest artists of his generation both locally and internationally.
His music described as ‘Soukous Love’ also called ‘Tchao Tcho’ has been a huge favourite in night clubs across the country. He has already been to Uganda on three occasions before and is expected to come with a full band of his ‘Quartier Latin’ crew to perform live. He is expected to perform popular songs like Tcha Tcho, Maggie, Nobless Oblige, Droit De Veto, Loi, Miko, Force de Frappe, Chantou, Andrada and Effrakata
Some big Local Artists like Dr.Jose Chameleone, Juliana Rema have also been lined up to curtain raise in the show. Ordinary tickets are expected to go for 30,000/=
