Denis Onyango Nominated Twice In The African Footballer Of The Year Awards

This might be Denis Onyango’s year after all the disappointments he has been getting for the last ten or so years of his footballing career after he was nominated for the ‘African footballer of the year’ awards.

Besides that, the Uganda Cranes captain is also among the nominees in the African footballer of the year award for players based in Africa.

Uganda Cranes Goal keeper Denis Onyango

The Uganda Cranes goalie helped Uganda qualify for the coming Africa cup of Nations after 38 years of waiting and has also been pivotal in helping his South African club Mamelodi Sundowns have a first leg advantage over Zamalek with a 3 goal lead (with the second leg coming up next week) in the CAF Champions League for the first time in 15 years.

Onyango who is the 2015/16 goalkeeper of the year in the South Africa Premier League (PSL) is up against Leicester’s Riyad Mahrez, Liverpool’s Saido Mane, Brossia Dortmund’s Pierre Emerick Aubameyang and legendary Samuel Eto’o.
