I don’t know where you have been if you missed the fight between Don Jazzy and Olamide at the Headies Awards 2015 that took place last week. You indeed missed it if you don’t follow them on twitter or didn’t catch the live coverage of the event on Hip TV that same day
So here Is what happened. It all started with the award category “Next Rated Award” which is really a big deal at the awards. It is the most converted and prestigious as it is great mileage for the new artist, not to mention it comes with a brand new Hyundai Car.
Did I mention each of these 2 artists are also producers and own their own record labels. Oh yeah Don jazzy who is the owner of Marvin Records and Olamide owns YBNL record. Now both record labels had their artist nominated
Lil Kesh (Signed under Olamide’s YBNL record) failed to win the award as it went to Mavin artist Reekado Banks. This didn’t go down well with Olamide and his YBNL crew, Olamidde later went onto the stage when Adekunle Gold (Another YBNL artiste) received his award for Best Alternative artiste alongside the whole YBNL crew and addressed the awards management telling them Kesh should have won because he has a lot of back to back hits.
Then after his outburst he stormed off and left the entire event neglecting his awards to be worn. Did I mention he dropped the mike? Yes he did! It didn’t end then. Moments later when Don Jazzy took the stage to receive his Special recognition award he said he hated awards and had only come to support his ‘children’ of Mavin records and went on to say he would buy Reekado Banks and Korede Bello (who were both nominated for Next Rated) that he’d buy cars for them.
He dropped the biggest bomb when he went on to say Olamide should come take the car. Wow! He left the event too with his entire team. Olamide might have not been there to defend himself so he went on rampage on Twitter. A lot of fans had his back too and all condemned Don Jazzy for mentioning his name. some artist also showed their support for Olamide like Davido on Twitter.
Olamide’s twitter account was a blood bath as he went on and on about the dealing of Don Jazzy that no one knew about. Just like any good story there was a happy ending when both Olamide apologized to their fans for their behavior on live tv and twitter. I wonder if this mean the beef is squashed or now just behind closed doors.
