Former Monitor managing editor Don Wanyama was announced the new senior press secretary yesterday, a position that was formerly occupied by motor-mouthed Tamale Mirundi.
Don was appointed by His Excellency Yoweri Museveni at a time when he is about to announce his new cabinet.
Don has been serving as the special media assistant to the chairman of the National Resistance Movement and he occupied this post after he was relieved of his duties at Daily Monitor after publishing an opinion poll allegedly in favour of Museveni last year.
It is believed that his appointment is based on the fact that he is an expert in communication skills during a time when the president needs to reorganize the communications department of state house to match with the times. Don’s abilities were tasted during the election cycle when he was given digital assignments, alongside the team that was deployed by the NRM secretariat to handle social media and results showed that he knew what he was doing.
After the announcement, Don will shift from the office of the NRM chairman to State House to officially begin his new post that comes with a variety of bonuses. Congratulations to Don!
