Right now it’s very obvious that everybody in the country Uganda knows who the newly elected president is. Today, HE Yoweri Kaguta Museveni made history again after winning the national general elections for the 5th time. Jose Chameleone real names Joseph Mayanja, one of Uganda’s celebrated artiste and a proud supporter of Museveni came out to congratulate him upon this victory.
“Congratulations to the Elected President of Uganda 2016-Y.K.Museveni.” Chameleone happily wrote on his Facebook page. However, like any other Ugandan, Chameleone has a right to support who his heart feels is the right person, that‘s why he was seen campaigning for Museveni and performing at most of his campaign rallies a sign showing he is an NRM supporter. That left some of his fans in the opposition cursing.
Today he came out to challenge those who didn’t like the fact that he was practicing his fundamental right of choice. “Please stop threatening to boycott my Showcases, that shows how conditional your support to me is. I have never insulted your love for other artistes simply because such is life If I offended any of you in that manner, Stay home next time I have a Show and wait for those you support unconditionally. I am Ugandan, We are Ugandans.”
The ‘Wale Wale’ singer also had some words of advice to the society especially that the whole elections excitement is over. “For all society condemning each other on who voted and supported who it’s not primary now. It’s time to reconcile and together build our nation with the greatest of our abilities.”
