“I promise you that with Jahrastafari willing, we shall be back next year” are the words MC Walshy Fire of the Electronic Dance Music (EDM) Dj trio Major Lazer told the revellers after concluding their performance at the Club Major concert that took place on Monday evening the 8th of October at Sheraton Gardens.
When the three take to the stage, expect nothing but exciting and danceable hardcore EDM mixes, standing on top of tables and this is what happened once again. Remember this was their second time in Uganda.
Party animals and well wishers thronged Sheraton Hotel Gardens where the concert successfully took place. It was yet another mega ‘Major Lazer experience’.
After exciting performances from our very own local artistes and Djs, the stage was left for no one but Major Lazer and it was Dj Jillionaire who took to the wheels of steel first alongside their MC Walshy Fire who was all fired up while emceeing. This was before Dj Diplo joined them later, making the mood even more interesting as he did what he does best with his unmatched Dj skills.
The well-attended event which was mainly dominated by the uptown youthful crowd, saw them dance to and sing along to the songs Diplo was mixing on the ‘ones and twos’. It was how ever not 100% EDM, he spiced it up with other music genres including Dancehall, Hip Hop, RnB and definitely Afrobeats from South and West Africa.
The crowd was lit even before Major Lazor’s time as there were prior performances from artistes and Djs like Beenie Gunter, Fik Fameica, Dj RPM and BK, Dj Jeff and DJ Apeman who set the mood rolling.
Last year, the sold out Dj Diplo Live concert that took place at Golf Course Hotel featured only two members of the trio that is Diplo and MC Walshy Fire but this time round for their second time in Uganda, it was a full crew as Dj Jillionaire joined them and if you attended, you saw this and more yourself.
