Fashion Tips For This Raggae Edition Of Roast & Rhyme

  • As the date to the third edition of Roast and Rhyme draws closer, not only are organizers and artistes prepping themselves, so are revelers.
  • Excitement is building up amongst passionate fans of the quarterly Bell Lager sponsored event set for this Sunday; March 5, 2017 at Jahazi Pier in Munyonyo.

Revelers usually put in a lot of effort to look their best during these events; one would say it is because of the countless paparazzi present.

None the less, there is that group of people that still outdo themselves. This can be a learning phase for them.

What to wear!

For women, outdoor events are usually the best excuse to slip into something sexy yet fun. Most will go for shorts, preferably denim but easy glamour is the right play.

That said, a well-tailored African printed dress will do most of the styling work for you if you don’t want to accessorize too much. Just slip into a pair of cute sandals, grab a matching clutch and enjoy the bright sunny afternoon.

A finely cut maxi skirt or dress with bright colors perhaps reggae themed colors especially on petite girls can complement your appearance in terms of skin complexion as well as height.

If you want to be able to use your hands, a shirtdress, ballet flats/gladiator sandals and a cross-body bag would work magic, making it easy for you to grab the mouthwatering BBQ you’re already salivating over.

To add that bit of glamour and fabulousity to your outfit, top up your look with a cute trendy pair of sunglasses and a straw hat.

For the men, there are only a few things you need to consider. Keep it casual, polished and remember to finish with warm weather accessories.

Start with a comfortable, neutral colored (black, grey, white, navy blue) t-shirt but you can also stand out in a bold striped t-shirt or one with a striking graphic design. Wear this with shorts, perhaps a simple khaki pair. _rnr1299

A linen or light cotton shirt with a light color is also ideal to keep you cool in the heat. You can also try a brightly colored polo shirt because with a polo, you can never go wrong. This would go well with a pair of preferably khaki, beige or gray shorts.

A pair of leather sandals works well with shorts and a t-shirt. If you’re not a fan of having your feet exposed, go with a pair of simple stylish shoes but be sure to skip socks.

Don’t forget a pair of stylish preferably aviator sunglasses for an edgy look, accessorize your hands with some reggae themed wristbands and rock a baseball cap or fedora for the finishing touch.

Sources have also intimated to us that anyone who will go with a braai (BBQ stove), will automatically get a free pack of Bell Lager. What better way to accessorize for the day?!

Remember to carry camping chairs, masai blankets (lesu) and just in case it rains, don’t forget to grab that umbrella and scarf.
