It is understandable that the ‘Buzz Leavers Rock’ is an event for youngsters and therefore 6:30 PM is the time it is always expected to end and organisers respect that but last Saturday the 9th of December during the 2017’s edition, it was the contrary as police ordered for an immediate closure at exactly 3 minutes to 6 PM despite the fact that the crowd was still in need of more with more artistes to perform still.
Through the years, this event organised by Buzz Events in partnership with Mountain Dew is one targeting primary and secondary schools’ leavers to unwind them from the school stress of third term which is also one where P7, S4 and S6 pupils sit for their Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) and it is also a promotional term for the other classes.
Once again, all roads lead to Garden City Rooftop where the 2017’s edition successfully went down boasting of performances from top notch and celebrated artistes and Djs who excited the youngsters going by the reception they gave each performer.
Like usual, it is not just about the performances as there are two stages. The main stage is for the performers where as stage two is at the dance floor where different Djs engage the revellers with live Dj mixes which we saw the impenetrable crowd dance to and this goes on the whole the whole day. It is always ones choice to be at stage one or two.
Back to stage one (the main stage), one of the MC’s Hype man who had from earlier been engaging the crowd with different exciting things like throwing lots of give aways to them, calling upon some to participate in singing and dancing and modelling competitions, finally started off the artistes’ performances at a few minutes after 2 PM.
The headlining artistes’ performances were in the order of B2C, Rodah K, EliJava Music, Devine Sparks Dance Group, Dj Mercy, Black Skin, Vinka, Beenie Gunter, DJ Roja and Slick Stuart, Rabadaba, Da Agent and finally Fik Fameica and Sheebah who threw the crowd into frenzy.
Every time, this event is on at Rooftop which has practically turned into its home, the whole place is taken over by young boys and girls from different walks of life who come to have an experience, fun, interact and make new friends but above all, get entertained.
