“If census was needed, it should have been carried out here” were the words of a fan about the Galaxy FM’s Zzina Fest yesterday. The event received a massive audience that practically ‘overflowed’. The organizers were clever enough to notice how big their audience was, and they gave them the best they could. This was at Lido Beach, Entebbe yesterday.
A long line of fans was formed at the entrance by 11 m. By midday, it had transformed into a crowd. Tickets were on very high demand, and a couple of scuffles ensued among the attendees trying to access them. On the inside, the galore went on, with all types of food and drink available.
The fans who had arrived donning the most eye-catching fashion styles quickly removed them to reveal their perfect and imperfect beach bodies, before heading for the waters. At around 12:30 pm, the event officially begun under the guidance of co-emcee Mr. Mosh, who was later joined by the man of the moment DJ Nimrod. All Galaxy Deejays and presenters were there and they happily mingled with their fans.
Plenty of give-aways like phones, T-shirts and drinks came flying at the sand-filled audience, who many times ended up fighting for them. There were also dancing competitions, DJ battles, soccer games and comedy skits. The usual ugly beach side of teenage boys molesting girls but security did the best they could to avert it.
The event went on into the night with top artistes like Radio and Weasel, Sheeba, Nutty Neithan and Beenie Gunter gracing the stage to wow the fans.
