Congolese Rumba maestro General Defao will be in town this weekend for Lingala Night and has sent a message to his fans that he is very ready for the big do. The Lingala Night which is a celebration of Congolese music will feature the veteran Congolese Rumba and soukous star popularly known for his songs like ‘Amour scolaire,’ ’Sala Noki’, ‘Animation’ and ‘Famille Kikuta’ that rocked Africa in the 90’ and 2000’s as well as Ugandan-based Congolese guitar Maestro Charmant Mushaga is a combination that is expected to have a hot live Congolese music.
The Lingala Night will take place this Friday 16th December 2016 at Sheraton Gardens in Kampala in a dome. This particular edition of Lingala Night is specifically dedicated to charity in support of New Beginnings Foundation Ugandans as fans of Congolese music celebrate end of year in style.
Besides General Defao and Charmant Mushaga aka Shalma and friends, there will be DJs coming from Kinshasa and Bukavu (Charmant’s home town) like DJ Yannick & DJ Rodriguez also to mix some Congolese music.
“I am excited to perform at Lingala Night alongside a very energetic band as well as queen dancers. I cant wait to give my all for the fans and i am looking forward to sharing the same stage with General Defa0” Charmant told Chano8 in an exclusive interview.
Before the main acts step on stage there will be a fashion show displaying the best of African wear from Congo.The fashion event is a showcase of Congolese fashion and the Le Sapues lifestyle – the society of elegant persons of the Congo – by SHOMI Africa Designs & DAX Couture from 6.00PM. Charmant will then kick off his session supported by close friends like Rogatien Milord and an energetic band doing it live with queen dancers as they perform popular covers from home as well as original compositions.
The Lingala Night is expected to attract high profile party goers who enjoy rumba & Zouk music music that was very popular in Uganda in the late 90’s and early 2000’s.Also present will be representatives from the Congolese Embassy in Uganda.
