Last week, the Minister of State for Youth and Child Affairs Florence Nakiwala Kiyingi okayed fast-rising 7-year-old rapper Fresh Kid (Patrick Ssenyonjo) to keep on doing music after she had earlier issued to a statement asking the rapper to hung up his microphone and concentrate on school
The meeting between the minister and Fresh Kid together with his management team saw them agree on certain conditions and one of them was to stop performing in bars at night as well as going for media interviews during school hours
Nakiwala also promised that with help of the ministry, Fresh Kid’s school fees were going to be catered for up to when he completes primary school. This sounded like a super cool idea but little did we know the ministry was going to dictate the school the rapper goes to.
The ministry therefore chose St Savio Junior School located in Kisubi Wakiso district. Minister Nakiwala said that this school is one of the best in country which promotes good discipline and religion.
All the preparations like securing him a vacancy, clearing his school fees are all done and it was also said that when Fresh Kid joins this school, the ministry might decide to build him a state of the art studio and also give him opportunities to perform at national events because of his talent so that he can inspire other children
Meanwhile, Fresh Kid is a pupil at St. Agnes Primary School located in Kawanda
