Following the death of former Uganda Cranes goal keeper Abbey Dhaira who lost the battle to Intestinal cancer at the International University Hospital of Iceland on Sunday, government is to do all the necessary preparations from the transportation of the deceased’s body up to the time he will be laid to rest.
“I have received the sad news of the passing of our Uganda Cranes goalkeeper Abel Dhaira who succumbed to cancer in Iceland. It is a pity that he’s gone while still very young, however, we celebrate his contribution to the country. The government will meet all expenses involved in returning his body. May the good Lord comfort Dhaira’s family and friends during this difficult time. May his soul rest in peace.” HE. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni wrote on his facebook page.
The 28 year old had who had played for the national team 13 times was a player for IBV Vestmannaeyjar. In the mean time, a five man committee has been chosen to work on everything step by step.
The committee includes 1st FUFA Vice President Justus Mugisha, the new Chairman FUFA Super League Limited Board Mr. Arinaitwe Rugyendo, State House representative- Norah Nassimbwa, Katende Ssemakula of National Council of Sports and Faisal Mayemba from the deceased’s family. This team is how ever tasked to design a programme and mobilise the materials to use in the whole process until Dhaira is laid to rest art his ancestral home in Jinja.
