Wabuyu Gilson also known as Gravity Omutujju last evening survived death as a security guard reportedly shot at his car while they were heading for a performance in Mityana. It is said that two bullets ‘brushed off’ his body without inflicting any major damages and as we write this, he is nursing minor wounds at Rubaga hospital with investigations still ongoing.
Already three people are in custody over this matter as police continues with investigations.
Bebe was consequently admitted at Nsambya hospital before he was flown to the US for further treatment courtesy of President Yoweri Museveni. He was shot by a police officer although the case just died a natural death.
But the ‘Bijanjalo’ singer is not the first to be shot at as Gagameo boss Bebe Cool on the 29 of January 2010 was also shot in the thighs at Effendys Bar at Centenary Park after a fracas with the late Mowzey Radio and Weasel. The bullets shattered both his legs and two other people including Cobra his bouncer also sustained major injuries.
Besides the two, another musician known as Master Blaster died on the spot on the 29th of December 2015 at Eden Service Park in Bwaise when a stray bullet hit him. It is alleged that the fracas came about when Master Blaster, famed for his ‘Emboko’ song grabbed a random woman to dance with at the hangout, not knowing that she had come along with some Sudanese men. On asking him to leave the lady, he refused and that is when one guy went to the car, grabbed his gun and came back firing rounds of bullets in the air and in the process, one went straight to the musician and killed him.
Gravity’s case still remains unclear but reports indicate that he had gone to Mityana to perform and his crew parked at a petrol station as they waited for the organizer of the show to come and pick them That is where the scuffled ensued ending with Gravity ‘getting shot’ in the stomach.
