Oscar award winner Lupita Nyong’o is yet again set for big things. After virtually achieving everything in her film career and dreams, the 31 year old is now yet to add more onto her impressive CV.
This time round, she will be featuring in a Ugandan movie titled ‘The Queen of Katwe’.
Lupita is expected to star in a lead role as main actress in a movie inspired by Tim Crothers’ book ‘Queen of Katwe A Story of Life, Chess and One Extra-Ordinary Girl’s Dream of Becoming a Grandmaster”.
The movie that will be directed by award-winning Director Mira Nair will be based on a true life story of Ugandan young chess star Phiona Mutesi, who grew up in the slums of Katwe in Kampala, but went on to have a successful chess career and meeting very important people in the process including chess grand master champion Gar Kasparov.
The movie will be filmed in Katwe and other slums in Kampala.
Lupita Nyong’o is a Kenyan-Mexican actress, film director and music video director who came to prominence after she won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Steve McQueen’s 2013 historical drama ‘12 Years a Slave’ In which, she played Patsey, a slave who was tortured for her passion and love in a powerful moving story.
She has since gone onto become one of the top Hollywood actresses and won several awards and received important nominations she was named The most Beautiful Woman of 2014 by People Magazine and Woman of the Year by Glamour magazine as well as gracing covers of such magazine across the globe.
