The annual Break Fast Jam fifth edition finals which were held yesterday at the Wandegeya-Kampala based higher institution of learning commonly known as YMCA, went down successfully through eye catching break dance showcases at the institute’s basket ball court.
The competitions began at 4:30 pm and ‘B Girls’, ‘Kid’s’, ‘Popping’, ‘One on One’ and ‘7 to Smoke’ battles were the categories the competitors competed in. Jora Mc who was the host immediately kicked off the battles with the ‘Big Girls’ battle breaking the ice.
The battle excited the crowd as girls like Kisha showcased what they are made of, doing those wowing strokes as the crowd cheered her on. However, the other girls were good too.
The kid’s battle was next and it brought more excitement as people enjoyed how the young ones were tussling it out. Shortly after, the Popping battle followed and it had a mixture of both Kenyan and Ugandan dance crews battling.
Since the event was aimed at also promoting hip hop music, hip hop artistes like Ruyonga, Silvester, Abramz, St Nellysade performed for the crowd and Enygma who didn’t perform but was in attendance.
Other dance crews which were not part of competition like ‘Party People crew’, ‘SiskoCrew’ and ‘Marvels Crew’ also show cased their dance talents followed by the ‘One on One Battle’ where the dancers competed individually.
‘7 to Smoke’ was the last battle and this one killed the crowd with excitement as the dancers were showing each other what they have got.
Breakfast jam competitions were free and fair and who ever won in the different categories deserved it and those who didn’t win may be next year they will pull up. below is the list of the winners in each category.
