Last Saturday, Geoffrey Lutaaya lost his dad and burial took place on Sunday in Masaka. But among the mourners were his former workmates and Golden Band members Mesach Ssemakula, Musa Kavuma, Catherine Kusasira, Ronald Mayinja among others.
This gesture did not please the ‘Nice And Lovely’ singer who claims that his former colleagues are fully responsible for his woes after separation which saw him alongside his wife Irene Namatovu form Da New Eagles Band.
Lutaaya grabbed the bouquet which the Golden Band members had brought at the funeral and took it to the casket himself while crying. His action however has raised a lot of concerns with some people in the public claiming that he was in the wrong as he would have put his wrangles and personal differences with former colleagues aside.
However, the artiste earlier today said that he doesn’t regret his actions because he was emotional at that time and couldn’t just pretend to be okay with his rivals.
“I don’t want people to pretend on my late father’s funeral. They are not my friends and I didn’t want them there. When people like silver Kyagulanyi, Mathias Walukagga, Kazibwe Kapo and Catherine Kusasira came, they had good intentions unlike others. You can never change an evil person in the presence of people. I couldn’t embrace their presence especially on the day I was bidding farewell to my late father.” said Geoffrey Lutaya.
He also added that, they have been sabotaging his shows especially at Calendar Rest House in Makindye and at Hotel Africana where they even paid 3million shillings for his ‘Lwezza’ show not to take place. He also added that if they were his friends, they might have visited his sick mother.
“They have never visited my sick mother at Nsambya hospital for the 369 days she has been there. And now they say they are my friends.”
Speaking about the incident, Musa Kavuma commonly known as KT, the Golden production band manager said that they were so surprised by Geoffrey Lutaaya’s behavior. “What hurt us more is that our backcloth was not brought forward and we have never had any intentions of blocking his concerts like it has been claimed.” Kavuma said.
