British actor Idris Elba who fast making his name in the Hollywood mainstream revealed that he won’t let fame get to his head and will remain true to his roots.
Speaking about his roots, Idris told Notion magazine, ‘I think my heart and my blood are definitely still in East London.’ The 43 year-old further goes on to say, ‘I feel like if you spread out my veins, it would be all over East London.’
Idris Elba who is nominated for Golden Globe for his role in Luther, also talked about his stunting fashion sense that appears in the magazine. ‘The key pieces are definitely designed to put you into “shabang” mode.
‘It’s a look, like BOOM! I’m trying to share a moment, to give how I feel when I wear something nice.’
Apart from fashion and movies, Idris has a passion for music and he launched his debut album Mi Mandela in 2014 but was worried people won’t take him seriously.
‘I was like, “How do I put an album out and really mean it, and not have people laugh me off?”’ he said. ‘Then I realised, don’t run away from the fact that you’re an actor, embrace it. Write songs about what you do.’
