For someone who has ever been locked behind bars and finally set free, they are the best people to explain how good it feels. For incarcerated and world’s celebrated Reggae and Ragga artiste Buju Banton real names Mark Anthony Myrie, it’s about that time to prepare for his release.
The Jamaican born who is currently serving a ten 10-year sentence at McRae Correctional Institution in Atlanta-America after he was found guilty of ‘conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute five or more kilograms of cocaine and possession of a firearm’. He was later locked behind bars on 22nd January 2011.
News coming to our desk is that, on Thursday the 27th of October the Reggae guru will be set free after his name appeared among the ones for those to be deported according to the Drug Enforcement Administration of United States federal law enforcement agency under the U.S. Department of Justice, tasked with combating drug smuggling and use within the United States.
This is good news to the Reggae world as Buju gets an early freedom and officially resume his singing career as he is set to release more songs. Although he released just a few songs in prison, all we can say is congratulations to Buju who is known for songs like ‘Champion’. ‘Magic City’, ‘Butty Rider’, ‘Wana Be Loved’ among many others.
Buju Banton graduated with a Masters Degree in Music Business Management from the University of New York in May this year.
