The Johnnie Walker Blue Club is an exclusive invite-only association of ardent consumers of the world-wide respectable, finely blended Johnnie Walker Blue label Whiskey around the world. To join the Blue Club, one had to spend $2500 (approximately Shs9m) to buy 12 bottles of Johnnie Walker Blue Label.
And so when fans of Johnnie Walker were invited by Arthur Busingye, a Blue Club member for a private Whiskey tasting event dubbed ‘Symphony in Blue experience’, they duly obliged and turned up smashingly smart, with almost all guests adhering to the ‘Black tie’ dress code.
Being a private affair, not many faces from the general ‘ordinary’ public were present at the elegant luxurious Enkombe Villas in Mbuya hills, the venue with a closely knit network of business associates, members of the Blue club, relatives and friends of the host in attendance. The tasting event of the finest scotch whiskey also doubled as a housewarming party for the Villas.
Guests had an opportunity to tour the luxurious VIP wings and check out the top-notch facilities before being ushered in by MC Issac Rucci to settle for cocktails and later a three-course meal punctuated with the tasting sessions of the Mercury Johnnie Walker platinum and Johnnie Walker Gold reserve which were mentored by Capital FM’s Marcus Kwikiriza the Johnnie Walker brand ambassador in Uganda after being welcomed by the host and wife Marion.
And when the moment of the night arrived, the mentor invited all guests to congregate at a cellar where the final tasting took place after the meals as the Blue Label was introduced to the guest with a complete history. The exquisite blend that was enjoyed in 6 different flavours Fresh, Fruity, Spicy, Malty, Woody and Peaty left guests in awe as they appreciated the true spirit of class defined by one of the world’s most coveted drinks.
The Managing Director of Uganda Breweries Mr Nyimpini Mabunda, who are overseeing the series of the Blue Club mentorships, while giving his closing remarks, spoke highly of Mr Busingye whom he praised as a man of ‘refined taste’. He gave a brief back ground of the Business man and Property mogul before welcoming him on stage to ‘open up the party’. Mr Busingye then thanked the guests for turning up describing the evening as a celebration of life as bottles went up for sale.
