One of the hottest news in Uganda right now is about musician-turned-politician Bobi Wine real name Robert Sentamu Kyagulanyi who was charged and remanded to Luzira prison on Monday over disobedience of statutory duty, an offence prosecution says he committed in July 2018.
He will appear in court again on Thursday the 2nd of May but as he waits for the day, his supporters home and abroad are calling for his freedom.
On Tuesday morning, veteran musician Jose Chameleone went to pay Bobi a visit in prison but unfortunately his efforts were futile as he was denied access to check on the ‘Kyarenga’ hit singer.
Despite the fact he used his means to negotiate, it was all in vain as he was told to first get clearance from the commissioner general of prisons.
After everything failed, the ‘Valu Valu’ singer who recently showed interest in Kampala City mayorship come 2021 general elections took to his social media platforms to express his dissatisfaction. He asked Bobi to be strong and thanked everyone who has made efforts to visit Bobi who is currently in the coolers
“Today morning I woke up and went to Luzira Maximum prison to Visit my comrade, Bobi Wine, I was informed that I had to get clearance from the Commissioner General. I tried to negotiate but it was all in Vain! Nevertheless, I pray for you my brother, Be strong as ever. Thanks everyone who has made effort to visit our brother.” Read Chameleone’s post on Facebook and Twitter
To see his long time friend and fellow veteran singer, Chameleone will have to first be cleared by the commissioner general of prisons or may be wait for Thursday when Bobi Wine is brought to court for another hearing.
