The Ugandan music industry has improved in leaps and bounds in recent times. Now local artistes are getting international recognition with award nominations like the recently concluded BET and MTV awards as well as upcoming Afrimma awards.
This comes with something positive as it raises the profile of the artistes who eventually get endorsements and corporate deals which has become a common occurrence with the top artistes.
News coming through now indicates Joseph Mayanja commonly known as Dr Jose Chameleone has fallen in things again this time. After losing the Mama Evolution award to Nigeria’s D’Banj in the recently concluded MTV awards in Durban South Africa, the Uganda Electoral Commission in conjunction with events organizer Balaam Barugahara have come up with something fresh for him.
This has come up when one of Uganda’s biggest events organizer Balaam Barugahara commonly known as ‘Sabavuulu’ was contracted by Uganda electoral commission to conduct the voters’ education and register display exercise that kicked off last week. For that matter, Balaam signed Chameleone to perform for the people on the ongoing exercise to build hype.
Balaam recently confirmed on his social media pages that he now works at Electoral Commission of Uganda although he could not pick our calls for a comment.
We learnt that Chameleone will kick-start his performances today in Kamwokya a city suburb today before going to other parts of the country. Reliable sources also confirmed that, Irene Namubiru is another artiste that was signed for the same exercise and she will be performing alongside the Wale Wale star in the same exercise that will last one month.
Recently, Comedy outfit Fanfactory also nailed a similar deal to promote the commission’s activities which is the way forward for our artistes.
