KAVC Finish 14th At African Club Championships As Rankings Are Confirmed

Ugandan representatives Kampala Amateur Volleyball Club (KAVC) finished 14th at the ongoing African Club Championships in Cairo after playing their last game for the men’s rankings in game 90 which they won last night 3-2 against Cameroonian side Bafia who finished 13th.

“We learnt vital lessons. Thank you for all your support. We are 14th on the continent”. KACV said in a message to fans as the team prepared for the journey back home this evening.

Positions from 9th to 24th were determined yesterday (Wednesday) while the rest of the top positions from 1st – 8th will be confirmed today after the last round of games.

Uganda’s other representatives Nemosters finished behind KAVC in 15th after beating Swimblue (Seychelles) 3-0.

The team played their hearts out last night to finish 14th overall in the tournaments

In the main men’s game Ahly will battle it out against El Guish in all Egyptian final for the 37th edition of Men’s African club championship at 19:00 local time in Ahly Hall on Thursday while Swehly of Libya face Smouha of Egypt for the bronze medal, while GSU play Ahly Benighazi for the 5th place and Aviation of Egypt meet Prisons for the 7th place.

KAVC qualified to represent the country after winning the National Club Championship while Nemosters earned the rights by winning the 2017 National League respectively.

After initially facing financial challenges SMS ONE (U) joined other corporate companies like NSSF, Bujagali Energy, Camusat, Thé Empire and individual well-wishers in supporting the Kampala Amateur Volleyball Club in their fundraising drive to send the team to Cairo-Egypt.

The players also had time to see the Pyramids during their free time in Egypt to bring back some memories
