Yesterday’s accident that claimed eight lives on the Karuma road also had local artist Khalifa Aganaga real names Sadat Mukiibi. The Oyitangayo singer was coming from West Nile where he had successful concerts over the weekend.
According to media reports, the accident that involved Gaaga bus and KK bus was a head-on collusion which forced the buses to sway off road and overturned into a trench.
Over twenty passengers were injured and taken to Nakasongala hospital. Aganga who was in the company of his manager, DJ and dancing crew was pulled out of the wreckage after thirty minutes of struggle by rescuers who used axes to get him out. They included Boda bodas and the artist’s fans. They were later rushed to Nsambya hospital after receiving first aid and some treatment from Nakasongola Hospital.
Some early morning media reports had indicated that the artist had passed on. He has however released a statement rubbishing those reports.
“Words can’t explain this incident but it made me believe that God works in mysterious ways because two of my neighbours perished in the accident.As of now we are all fine.
I would like to thank Allah, my team, Nsambya Hospital, Nakasongola Hospital, Friends, Family, Fans and media partners who showed care. Thank You!” He said.
Aganaga who has had a rough time of recent was also beaten up recently by a journalist he accused of speaking ill about him.
