This weekend all roads lead to Jazz Ville Bugolobi for a Kool and the Gang tribute night . Jazz Ville Bar and Restaurant located at Bandali Rise in Bugolobi an upscale Kampala suburb is home to Code 9 Jazz Band where live jazz and music rules.
The place boasts of a Jazz packed night every Friday dubbed ‘Friday Night Live’. However this weekend something different is happening as they dedicate Saturday 29th as a tribute Night to the great Band Kool and the Gang known for their song ‘Celebration’ Standup n sing’
They stared out with a purist jazz sound, then became practitioners of funk and R&B, progressing to a smooth pop-funk ensemble, and in the post-millennium creating music with a modern, electro-pop sound.
They took over the world and international scene in the 80’s and have sold over 70 million albums worldwide.
The group’s main members over the years included brothers Robert “Kool” Bell on bass and Ronald Bell on tenor saxophone, lead vocalist James “J.T.” Taylor, George Brown on drums, Larry Gittens on trumpet, Dennis Thomas on alto saxophone, Claydes Charles Smith on guitar, Mark Blakey on triangle and Rick Westfield on keyboards.
The tribute night organised by 91.3 Capital Radio will feature Code 9 Band as they unleash the legend’s greatest hits like’ Celebration’, ‘Cherish’, ‘Get down on it’, ‘Joanna’, ’Ladies night’ etc.
Entrance fee to access the now classy venue is set at 20,000/-. And for those who would wish to have a bite, there is a special delicious BBQ at 30,000/- With drinks of all tribes available to revellers.
Gates open at 7:00PM and Band starts playing at 9:00pm.
