128 young footballers from Excel Soccer Academy got special skills following a two day training by coaches Mike Neary and Chris O’Brien from Manchester United Soccer Schools who arrived in Uganda on Monday morning.
Courtesy of Plascon Kansai, the training for children under 10 and under 12 kicked off on Monday morning at Star Times Stadium located in Lugogo and was concluded on Tuesday
While addressing the media before the training, Neary said they travel around the world meeting coaches and youngsters trying to pass on the methodology that has produced some of the youngsters that have gone on to play for Manchester United football club.
“Manchester United Soccer Schools has been running for 20 years now and we have great experience of traveling around the world meeting coaches and youngsters first and foremost to enjoy the game and trying to pass on some of the methodology that has produced some of the youngsters that have gone on to represent Manchester United in the first team” Neary said
Neary also added that Man U has a record in developing and nurturing young players whom they bring off at a tender age and also give them a golden opportunity to play on the club’s first team
“We as a club have quite a special record and history in developing young players. We bring them off at a young age and most importantly we give them an opportunity to the first team and the environment they are brought up and coached back in Manchester is what we are trying to take around the world with us” Added Neary
The two coaches emphasized that having 128 players will ensure that each child they work with gets their full attention to make sure that they youngsters leave with lifelong soccer skills.
