RnB singer Maro is mostly known for his music but he is taking another path that will see Uganda free from jiggers.
The musician has started a campaign dubbed ‘Tundula’ that will see him traverse the country with medical experts, educating the public about jiggers, giving them free medical services and items like shoes among others.
Maro kicked off this campaign yesterday at Buluba Primary School in Mayuge district where he interacted with the pupils, played and ate with them as well as providing shoe to those who were found in bare foot. The campaign will be heading to Kaliro district next.
“The campaign will be happening until next month and we shall be visiting different places every Thursday sensitizing the public and giving them medical support,” Maro told Chano8
Among the other districts they will be visiting within the next one month include Isingiro, Kisoro and Kasese respectively. The ‘Mubi Bubi’ singer therefore calls upon any kind of support to see that this campaign is fruitful at the end of the day.
The musician also hopes that the Ugandan government can come up with a day in future to have a National Jiggers Day as a way of creating awareness of this problem.
