Maxi Priest Arrives Tonight Ahead Of The Nile Gold Jazz and Soul Safari

Internationally recognized Reggae Superstar Maxi Priest is expected to arrive tonight at 10pm for the 9th edition of Nile Gold Jazz and Soul Safari slated for Saturday October 8th at the Lugogo Cricket Oval. The Superstar who will headline the annual Jazz festival alongside Saxophonist Jackiem Joyner and Trumpeter Lin Rountree a.k.a The Soul-Trumpeter on Independence eve will come with a full band..

According to sources, the reggae veteran is expected to fly in alongside Lin Rountree and other band members at around 10:50pm aboard KLM. He will then be taken to Sheraton for a night’s rest before interacting with the media tomorrow at 11:00 AM at the same hotel ahead of the highly anticipated concert now at a new bigger venue in Lugogo.

According to TShaka “Roots” Mayanja, founder and CEO of Jazz Safari, this year’s edition will be all about Jazz-Funk and Lovers Rock; attendees can look forward to a line-up that has a Reggae offering. “Each year, our priority is to create artistic experiences that are representative of the diverse nature of the genre, creating new layers of the jazz landscape.”

Local talent will this time round be introduced to beef up the international cast as they will be given a chance to showcase their talents and take advantage of the massive opportunity sharing the big stage with internationally renowned stars.

The Nile Gold Uganda-sponsored AnnualNileGoldJazzandSoulSafari also for the first time ever introduced a new live session dubbed Afro-Soul and Rumba Classics which will be headlined by music legends like Moses Matovu of Afrigo Band, Tony Ssenkebejje and Eddy Ganja. The other most exciting thing is that they will be joined on stage by talented vocalist Lilian Mbabazi and Saxophonist Michael Kitanda.
