Gone are the days when Godfrey Nyakana, Justin Juuko and Ouma used to be the best boxing exports in Uganda. Lately, Sharif Bogere, although has received less coverage from Ugandan media is proving day in and day out that he’s by far one of the best boxers.
This has even attracted the attention of one of the greatest boxers of all time to sign him.
Mayweather Promotions announced the signing of Ugandan lightweight boxer Sharif “The Lion” Bogere a few days back on a seasoned long term contract
Sharif Bogere signed a promotional contract with Mayweather Promotions after his contract with Golden Boy Promotions expired last year in December.
“We’re proud to add another young, hungry fighter to our Mayweather Promotions stable. Sharif Bogere is a very talented young man with an incredible backstory and I know that he’s working hard to become a world champion,” Floyd Mayweather said.
Sharif Bogere is a professional boxer in the Lightweight division and is a one-time WBO, NABO Lightweight Champion. He was also named the 2010 Outstanding Young Male Boxer of the Year.
