Veteran singer Mesach Semakula’s ‘Bwagamba’ concert that took place last Friday the 14th of June at Hotel Africana’s Nile Hall had one thing that made it one of the biggest concerts. The attendance of the Kabaka (King) of Buganda His Highness Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II
The Kabaka has never attended a concert before but he did at Mesach’s and it comes two months after knighting him with the title of Sir.
The Golden Band Production singer even admitted that this was his biggest concert and besides the attendance of the king, everything else was on point. From the production to the band and all the way to the supporting acts, everything was flawless.
Like many artistes, Mesach changed clothes after on every session he did changed his outfit and made sure that the crowd was contented to the fullest with his song choices.
He mixed up his performance with his latest to the oldest tunes while taking a few minutes to appreciate the king’s presence at the show.
Some of the songs that he did included ‘Sigwe Ansimila’, ‘Njagala Ngabwendi’, ‘Kulika Baby’, ‘Ntongo’, ‘Abakazi Abaguuma’, first Aid and ‘bwagamba’ among others in his three sessions.
Other artistes who performed on the other hand ensured that at least every song they did was cultural. Artistes such as Bebe Cool, Dr Hilderman, Catherine Kusasira, Rema, Lydia Jazmine, Pr Bugembe, Ronald Mayinja and Mathias Walukagga to mention a few.
It was also on this concert that the 43-year-old decided to honor people who have contributed to his 27 years music journey with accolades and among those include Abbey Mukiibi, Musa Kavuma, Bakayimbira Drama Actors, Diamond ensemble and many more.
