Minister of State for Youth and Child Affairs Florence Nakiwala Kiyingi has today okayed the fast-rising 7-year-old rapper Fresh Kid (Patrick Ssenyonjo). This happened today afternoon after a closed meeting with the rapper at her office in Kampala.
On top of okaying the youngster, the minister has also offered to personally support him. For starters, she gave Fresh Kid Ug Shs 5 million cash as a support to his music career. Our reliable source who was part of the meeting confirmed to the website.
Last week, Minister Nakiwala ordered the young rapper and his team to meet her and iron out issues after she was was falsely informed that the young boy was the breadwinner for his family.
The minister then developed fears that the young boy would drop out of school and mess his life. She issued a statement directly the rapper’s managers to immediately stop him from performing.
However, after the meeting on Tuesday afternoon, Fresh Kid’s team agreed with the minister to keep the young boy in school during the day so that he does music after school hours and on a limited basis.
The minister also apologized to the team for having judged the child rapper and his team.
The minister has emphasized that the Shs 5 million she has offered should be to shoot the video for his latest song ‘Bambi’ (in which she pleads to the minister to let him do music to survive).
The minister also reportedly pledged to pay Fresh Kid’s school fees until he completes Primary Seven (P.7).
