The 3rd edition of Miss Earth Uganda was yesterday morning officially unveiled at a media briefing that was held at the Lugogo by pass-based Nanjing Hotel. Journalists were briefed on what is expected of this year’s edition whose coronation night is scheduled for Friday the 25th of August at Nanjing Restaurant and Motel located in Kololo.
While speaking at the press conference, Nabagereka Victoria the national director Miss Earth Uganda took the media through what is going to take place within few these remaining days to the grand finale.
“This year we are referring to this edition as a special one and we are running the pageant under the theme my environment my responsibility because I believe it’s every ones responsibility. This year we have 14 amazing contestants representing for different districts. They will be subjected to a two weeks’ boot camp training session on environmental issues, public speech, personal and onstage presentation and will get involved in humanitarian and environmental causes.” Said Victoria.
With a theme of ‘my environment my responsibility’ the organisers are proud to have different sponsors on board and in a very special way, Victoria thanked the sponsors namely National Forestry Authority, National Environment Management Authority, Chimpanzee Trust, Unite For The Environment, National Environment Students Organization, Youth Go Green, Rotaract Earth Initiative, Nanjing Hotel, Nanjing Restaurant And Motel, Crystals International School, Upmra and Delta Television.
While in the boot camp, the girls who represented for Adjumani, Arua, Gulu, Iganga, Jinja, Kampala, Lira, Luwero, Mbarara, Ntugamo, Pakwach, Soroti, Tororo and Wakiso districts will participate in different activities which they will be awarded for but the four main categories that is Miss Earth Water, Miss Earth Fire, Miss Earth Air and Miss Earth Uganda will dedicate their year to promoting specific projects and often addressing issues concerning the environment and other global issues
On top of that, Miss Earth Uganda 2017 will also represent Uganda at the Miss Earth International which will be held in Manila Philippines on the 4th of November 2017.
Miss earth Uganda is a beauty pageant that aims at empowering young Ugandan ladies with the knowledge and a platform to create a sustainable difference which helps in the protection and preservation of the environment.
