When the final results of Miss World were finally released, Miss Uganda Leah Kalanguka could not make it to the top 25 queens.
Miss World went to Miss South Africa Rolene Strauss, who beat competition from all 124 contestants. Miss Hungary Edina Kulcsar was the runner up while Miss United States
Elizabeth Safrit came third in the competition.
Rolene is a fourth year medical student who has had lifelong aspirations of competing in the beauty pageant. She started off at 15 years old, when won the Elite Model Look search in her native country.
In her acceptance speech, Rolene said she was both proud and humbled to have won and that her dreams had become reality:
“My country is my pride and my purpose has and will always lie within it.”
Miss Uganda who was one the favorites, unfortunately fell short as she didn’t make it to the top 25 but none the less, she did her country proud.
