This beauty pageant needs no much introduction and no wonder it’s been a trend setter for the all the other pageants in the Pearl Of Africa. We are talking about the Annual Miss Uganda pageant 2016-2017 edition which was launched yesterday afternoon at a Press briefing held at The Nile hall in Kampala Serena Hotel.
Hosted by Mrs. Janet Nalugya the projects director Miss Uganda Foundation, the press conference started with sponsors Huawei, UBIC, Brovad Sands Lodge, Pemba Sports Africa, Reach A hand Foundation and Zziwa Hair giving their remarks and later gave room to The CEO Miss Uganda Foundation to shed more light to the journalists from different media houses on what is expected this year.
“I would like to make one thing clear, we usually have our Miss Uganda launch around April or May but because of the political situation in the country, we still had to wait on confirmation from sponsors and also make sure that the political and the economy is able so that is why we have launched rather a bit late but the advantage is as Miss Uganda and the Miss World, we don’t exactly follow the calendar year that it has to be January to December. So that is why even other pageants all over the world, the year can start in July, August or September.” Mrs Brenda Nanyonjo the chief executive officer Miss Uganda Foundation said.
One of the things the Miss Uganda Foundation has in stock is to launch the Miss Uganda Excellence Awards to appreciate and recognise the girls that Miss Uganda Foundation has mentored before even if they did not win anything.
After the regional searches are done, the girls will be staying at a boot camp in Kampala that was not disclosed, Namulonge Research Institute and will spend 3 days at Brovad Sands Lodge located in Kalangala. So the interested pretty girls out there prepare your selves next week for auditions as the Grand Finale will be on Saturday the 15th of October at Serena Hotel Kampala.
