Beauty queens have descended on London to be put through their paces in sport and swimwear competitions ahead of 14th December’s Miss World final which will be broadcast live to millions of viewers.
Miss Uganda Leah Kalanguka is ranked among the top contestants to win the prestigious Miss World as reported by the Daily Mail. The 23-year- old graduate with a BA in Computer Engineering who was articulate, confident and demonstrated brilliance during the question and answer session at the grand finale in Munyonyo’s chances of taking the crown stands at 7/10 as rated by FEMAIL.
Leah is up against some of the most beautiful as well as brainy young beauty queens from around the world which include South Sudan’s Awien Kuanyin-Agoth and Miss England Carina Tyrrell. Both Carina and Awien chances of winning stand at 10/10.
Kalanguka a former poultry and Mushroom farmer is studying further, with the ambitions of becoming a powerful influential computer engineer in Uganda, with plans of developing programs which can revolutionize the agricultural industry of Uganda.
“I want to come up with an agro-incubator that supports agro-entrepreneurs who have ideas on value addition. I would also like to work with NRIC and Naads (National Agricultural Advisory Services) that already have these resources,” Leah said after winning the crown.
In the profile, Leah besides her career ambitions, likes to sing and dance, and her favourite sports are volleyball and swimming. She attended Nakasero Primary School, Nabbingo Girls’ School and will be graduating from Makerere University with a Bachelors degree in Software Engineering.
This year’s crop, far from being the stereotypical dumb beauty queens, are both pretty and polished, with the majority holding a university degree, as well as juggling a vast array of interests, hobbies and charity work.
