Angella Katatumba Revels In Winning Humanitarian Award At The Uganda Music Awards

Last Friday singer and philanthropist Angella Katatumba added yet another accolade to her collection of awards as she was handed the Best Humanitarian Award 2017 in the Inaugural Uganda Music Awards (TUMA) held at Kampala Serena Hotel on Friday August 4th.

Angella Katatumba who also doubles as the Acting Honorary Consul of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in Uganda is known for her charitable works which she has been doing under her NGO Angella Katatumba Development Foundation which she started in 2006.

She has inspired many people through her works which has seen been widely recognised after winning several awards both locally and internationally and recognised as a woman of integrity. Her projects include ‘For you Gulu’ which saw actively engage in several charity campaigns to help the people of Gulu especially the internally displaced people suffering from the Lords Resistance Movement war led by Joseph Kony.

She since followed that up with many projects dedicated to Mulago hospital which saw her donate 10Million in 2016 for a phototherapy machine and syringe pump to the Intensive Care Unit at the  Hospital, which saves more than 60 babies born premature every single day.

Last night I received the HUMANITARIAN AWARD 2017, at ‘The Uganda Music Awards’.What an honour. Thank you so much for appreciating the AKDF NGO. She posted on Saturday after the awards.

She also added another 15 Million UGX which were proceeds from her Successful and highly sold out Mulago Yaffe concert held at the Kampala Serena Hotel, to the Uganda Cancer Institute of which she is the face to buy special beds.

Not to forget is alsoone ofher recent projects in which she teamed up with the Diplomatic Corps and donated 185 Million UGX to the same Uganda Cancer Institute, as the proceeds from the Annual Black Tie Dinner that was attended by very high profile government officials and business personalities.

She continue to play a big role in her philanthropic work and no wonder was recgonised at the Uganda Music Awards 2017 on Friday.
