Yet another App has joined the taxi business in Uganda. Little Ride which has been operating in neighbouring Kenya was officially unveiled last week at a dinner that took place at the mega 5-star hotel Pearl Of Africa in Nakasero.
Little Ride joins a cab market which already has the likes of Uber, Taxify, Yellow Taxi, Friendship among others in a business which is getting competitive by the day as it grows and gets more popular with the masses.
According to the CEO of Little Ride which is part of the company called Craft Siliconfoundation is going to be different from the others because it “Understands the African market and is here to make the life of drivers comfortable”.
“Show value to the drivers so that they too can value the customers as we create a solution that is customized for Ugandans” the CEO Mr Kamal Budhabhatti said at the launch dinner.
Unlike most of the other companies with origins in U.S and Europe, Little Ride is more of an indigenous company with operations in Nairobi and now Kampala and their drivers are considered as business partners who are free to invest in other income generating activities like sale of airtime.
The drivers will earn commission from the extra services and also get connected to insurance companies, banks and telecoms to exploit other options.
Mr. Ashish Kukreti the General Manager Little Ride App which can be downloaded on Google Play store and Apple store added that customers are charged 450 shillings per kilometre while drivers get 750 with all cars coming with free Wi-Fi and as a driver, all one needs is a car, a smart phone and a good sense of direction.
The company currently has 250 registered drivers as they target over 5,000 with emphasis on bring female drivers on board as the empower them to do business.
“Partnering up with little means you have the flexibility to work around your day according to your lifestyle”.
