Despite the party buses breaking down and having several stop overs, Kampala’s revelers were taken to a thrilling journey of party on wheels on Saturday as they were treated to a mobile party like no other as Johnnie Walker took them on a first of its kind Party Bus trip that featured outings at different bars in town.
The party which was courtesy of Uganda Breweries (UBL) and House of DJs saw the Johnnie Walker Party Bus loading many excited top Kampala party animals who accessed the monster machines by invite only to experience a journey they had never experienced before.
The journey started at Legends bar with those privileged to board starting to arrive at the set off venue as early as 5pm and after having some drinks and bites rushed to book the best seats preferably next to the bar and DJ where a variety of cocktails were being served to the screaming revelers.. The first break down happened just a few meters from the Legends gate but the morale of the revelers was not dampened as few minutes later a second bus came to the rescue and with Johnnie Walker flowing endlessly and funky music blaring courtesy of House of DJs, the mood was set for an evening of unmatched bliss.
The Party Bus then made its first stop at Gabs Bar in Bugolobi where entertained awaited with guitar maestro Myco Ouma and Jaxophonist Joseph Sax created a cozy atmosphere with some jazzy tunes as more drinks and bites arrives. Most of the revelers spent the few minutes relaying their experiences and laughing off the mini set back that happened at Legends bar.
Ouma who was giving the back drop to Sax, created the ‘live feel’ to what DJ Bank Robber mixing on the turn tables with rhythm and soft base as they played the classics and some block buster West African tunes that got some of the partiers grooving as the slay queens (who can never miss such opportunities), kept snapping away and sharing on social media to update their fans back home).
Soon it was time to get back to the buses and the now bigger entourage had to squeeze into the buses as more people joined the party at Gabz to head Atmosphere for a silent disco where top DJs like Bank Robber and DJ LL kept the revelers on their feet with a variety of mixes from oldies to the latest music before the party shifted Guvnor for the ultimate climax where only the morning’s breeze and cock crow interrupted the fun by reminding the merry makers it was church time.
Many of the revelers that included business partners, socilates, media personnel and Johnnie Walker consumers agreed that, despite the setbacks caused by the bus breakdowns, they had fun and enjoyed every bit of the tour where whether it was on or off the Party Bus, the passengers kept dancing throughout, enjoying treats in specially set up Johnnie Walker lounges at each of the bars as the mixed and mingled freely. Some of the notable faces included; Annette Nakiyaga the UBL Head of Whisky, Rapper Tom Mayanja ‘The Mith’, House of DJs boss Byaru, comedian Salvado Idringi with his colleague Tonny Mutengu, Radio personality Crystal Newman, Andrew Kyamagero, Marketer Gareth Onyango,NBS TVs Agatha Loswash among others.
